a poem by Daniel S. Irwin |
the cat watches
as I piss, seemingly mesmerized by the light yellow stream splashing in the toilet. The cat watches and I recall that this is the cat that killed my yellow canary, ripped out its guts leaving the carcass lying in the middle of the kitchen floor. And now, this cat, in a pouncing stance, watches me intently as I piss, perchance eyeing bigger game. As a precaution, bird in hand, I watch the cat. |
