a poem by Michael Frias-May

Francisco Pancho Villa Burned Down Your Store

i follow
the crows in your crepe face
Aunt Lola
my musky babysitter
you cackle
assert macha
eye to eye with Señor Villa
you sing
had i been beautiful
i would have been raped
had i been ugly
i would have been shot
but i was bruja
baby
bruja

Editor's note: bruja (Spanish) = a witch.
