a poem by J.J. Campbell

sara

cowboy boots
a flowing skirt

just enough
leg to rev the
engines of my
imagination

angelic voice

blended in
with the fiddle

the bow of
heartbreak
and desire
all set to the
rhythm of
jimmie rodgers

what i wouldn't
give for twenty
minutes and the
chance that you
wouldn't be
completely
fucking bored
with me

but i can't
help but think
i would simply
become a creepy
character for your
next song
