a poem by Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal

 LOOK AWAY

I look at your face
and it changes to
a foot before my
eyes. It needs a sock.

It needs a shoe. I
look away and the
face returns. You
think to yourself, "Am
I going crazy?"

You scratch your head, but
it feels like a foot.
You feel five toes and
toenails and you think,
"I have lost my mind."

You walk to your
bathroom and look in
the mirror and your
head is not a foot,
but a blue lampshade.
