a poem by D.C. Porder

 Truth or Dare

beat me like a video game.
wrap me in paper and place me
under the christmas tree every july.
mail me to your mom and dad.
pump me full of high-paying jobs
and black coffee. spike my beer
with better beer. smite me
with your smile. cook 6 servings
of each tasteful afternoon.
trim my mustache while i snore.
write your name on my foot
and behind my ears. store
my expired sonnets in your
medicine cabinet. draw my face
in pencil, in charcoal, in ink, in blood.
predict the past correctly 27 times.
move in with me. fix my life.
say: "i love you." say it.
i dare you.
