a poem by J.J. Campbell (1 of 2)

sixteen years

when i close my eyes
my tongue dances
around your beautiful
nipples

we're nineteen and
immortal again

away from home

pretending to be
cool and adult-like

when i have these
dreams now i'm the
handsome mother-
fucker you can't
resist and you're
the beautiful woman
who gladly puts out

i'd love to believe
things have changed
that much in sixteen
years

but i'm not a fucking
fool

hopeless romantic

but not a fool
