a poem by Daniel D. Mutch

Infidelity

Let me build you a wall, a big one
with honeysuckle poking between
the heaviest bricks you can imagine
so you can spy through the little holes
and see the exhaust fumes tethered
to the air
like an unfinished spectre
evaporating. Finished.
