a poem by Scot Young (3 of 3)

he was beamed down from the mothership and when he said
jesuslovesyou all we heard was take me to your leader

always the
cool guy
tough guy
the bad boy
the girls threw themselves
at kinda guy
that one day took
a wrong turn
on a bad trip
left his right hand trembling
holding the king james

the one time casanova
turned jesusfreak
in 1970
would stand outside
the fence at the swim club
preaching some hip
mumbojumbo version
of 3:16 mixed in with
"stairway to heaven"
that left us shaking
our heads thinking
he once had it all
