Cold Jelly

On vaginal lips
turn of the screw
metal bills push against meat
gauze on cervix
a place never meant for something so dry
pin prick and the taste of numb
Vicodin-Ativan-Motrin cocktail
It helps
to forget little bean
The smear of him
We all were
this easy to snuff out once
now they use a large syringe
aspiration
abortions have come a long way
the horror of the vacuum
sound is gone
the carved out feeling
of a Halloween pumpkin
no more
it’s a hard squeeze of the nurses hand
pain pain pain cramping
the Dr. counts it down gives
a light pat a kind word
and its over a small
bit of blood underneath
U
sit up and dress
get your crackers and ginger ale
your day-after pill
and out the door
on your way
to do it again.
