a poem by Danielle White

Redemption

To smash
My wine glass
And kneel on the shards

Soak the wounds in bleach

Father, forgive me for I have…

Broken the one I loved

Sorry?
Can't cut it

I mean, it's only two syllables

It's a word that dribbles
And casts its eyes down

It can't replace the ache
Or solder the hole
