a poem by Jason Huskey (2 of 2)

Parity

If bears had access to firearms,
they'd be the poets and postal workers
of the animal kingdom. Loners,
introverts driven to rage
at the initial sign of intrusion.
Bears would easily slaughter
a field full of elk,
if the mood felt right.
Loners, introverts driven by shame,
they would easily cancel
their subscriptions to Oxygen
on a convenient winter night.
