The Poet Who Would Not Swallow

His life was words
he did other meaningless things
drink, fuck, kill flies &
step in the dog shit of life

His work appeared in
underground magazines
that paid in contributor's copies

Then some cheap bastards started
charging reading fees & rip-
off contests making false
promises & whoring over priced
chaps & broadside bullshit

Half the time his words
were riddled with errors
patience festered into violence

He honed his blade &
went carving pumpkin
assed editors

"Asshole" into a forehead
"Cunt" into a tit
"Jerk Off" into an arm

Word got around
he'd taken an interest
in explosive chemistry

A sudden diligence in
spelling & honesty occurred

Poets everywhere smiled
as their muse tongued
their imagination.
